Course Details
The Surface Water Rescue Class is designed to equip emergency responders with the essential skills and techniques needed to safely and effectively conduct rescues in surface water environments, such as rivers, lakes, and floodwaters. During this course, critical topics including water dynamics, self-rescue techniques, victim approach and removal, and the use of equipment such as throw bags, rescue ropes, and personal flotation devices are discussed. Participants will engage in hands-on training that includes shore-based and in-water rescue scenarios, emphasizing the importance of responder safety, risk assessment, and swift decision-making in dynamic conditions.
Through realistic, scenario-driven exercises, responders will learn to address the challenges of surface water rescues, from assisting struggling swimmers to managing complex multiple-victim incidents. Additionally this course also emphasizes effective teamwork, communication, and incident command coordination to ensure a streamlined rescue operation. Lastly, at the end of this training participants will possess the skills required to perform rescue techniques that minimize risks to both victims and rescuers, enhancing their capability to respond to water-related emergencies.
