
Pistol Skills: Utilizing Cover and Concealment
This class is designed for law enforcement officers, security professionals, and responsible firearm owners who want to enhance their tactical shooting skills by effectively using cover and concealment. Participants will learn the principles of cover versus concealment, proper positioning, and techniques to maximize cover use during a shooting scenario. The course will cover various shooting positions, movement around cover, and strategies for minimizing exposure while engaging threats. Through realistic live fire drills, students will gain confidence in their ability to effectively utilize cover / concealment, enhancing survivability in real-world situations.
Length: 3 hours
Required Items:
- NYS Pistol Permit, active HR218, or Law Enforcement ID
- Semi-auto pistol
- Three magazines
- Belt-mounted holster (no Serpa style holsters permitted)
- Belt-mounted magazine pouch capable of holding two magazines
- 2” rigid belt or a tactical style outer belt
- Minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition (no steel cased ammunition allowed)
- Eye protection
- Ear protection (electronic preferred)
- Boots or sneakers (open toe shoes not allowed)
- Jeans, BDU’s or canvas type pants (no shorts)
- Tee or long sleeve shirt (no tank tops)
